The Girl That was Stuck in a Paradise: My Masasa Adventure!

I cant believe. I made it! May takot, kaba, pangamba pero super exciting, thrilling and adventurous ang kauna-unahan kong solo trip. Maybe people thinks that I’m crazy. Traveling alone? Its not bad at all it is actually an eye opener for me. A lot of things happened with my overnight stay.

Being a breadwinner, workaholic and business minded person sometimes we really need to have some rest. Away from work and the busy place of Metro Manila. I’ve been asking my friends to accompany me with my travel, even tried posting to different groups asking who wanna join. Either conflict with the schedule or no budget yet. After all the stress and all I finally made up my mind why dont traveling solo?

I checked on multiple beaches thats for free or atleast budget friendly and near to the metro.

So I packed up my things then planned to go in Masasa, Tingloy, Batangas. I actually planned for a day trip. Since masunurin since masunurin ang beshie nyo. I stayed and waited the following day to tell my mom aalis ako para mag day trip.
So I left the house morning na 5:30am. So I traveled from Manila to Masasa for 7hours may traffic na kasama plus mga paglipat ng mga sasakyan at bangka. Naka mindset na ako na daytrip ako. When I jumped off from the tricycle in Masasa. My heart is beating too fast. Felt both excitement and fear. So double kaba si beshie nyo.

So i started walking heading the beach. Wala akong tutuluyan. Kapit lang… laban lang! Thats the spirit Shali!

So I learn how to talk to strangers. Since this strangers are the one approaching me mas madali na. “Ineng ikaw lang magisa? May tutuluyan ka na ba? Magrerent ka ba ng tent?” Kadalasan nilang tanong. I know its pretty odd. Maybe crazy but that’s what i wanna really do.
To be honest I thought it will be hard for me to travel alone. But its not. I learned many things through out the travel. Life changing!

I thought the experience of you traveling alone is quite depressing but it was a total different feeling. It was filled with emotions like happiness and excitement overload. So thankful with the people who offered accomodation for free, for the peeps who offered low cost home stays and for the kid who never left me during my stay thank you po.

My Thrilling 682 pesos Hapunang Banoi escapade

“Survival was my only hope, success my only revenge.” Patricia Cornwell

Its not easy to stick with your plans. Climbing mountains, saving, bonding with your family and friends.. any ways.. parang pag akyat lang yan ng bundok.. kailangan ng sipag at tiyaga.. para makita ang magagandang view sa taas ng bundok.

Being a BADget (budget) traveler is quite hard you really need to plan about your travel and you cant afford to lose even a single peso in your pocket. When i was a young girl i’d really love to travel with my Lola emi..

Of course excited ang batang gala. Then the waiting time is over. We decided to climb Hapunang Banoi the following week. Medyo eggzoited na medyo may takot. Hello? Its a mini-major climb take note dalawa lang kame ni dy na aakyat. Ok sige push na ito.

We took a jeepney ride from Tayuman to MCU. Then took a bus going Cubao. Then an fx to Rizal and lastly a tricycle papuntang Rodriguez, Rizal junction para mag paregister sa pag akyat papuntang Hapunang Banoi.

Guide and other fees :

500÷2 guide

Fees like environmental fee.. etc

30 per head total na

..

We started our hike 5:30 am at nakarating ng baba galing ng bundok ng 1:30 pm. took a rest then pak balik na papuntang Manila.

Medyo maputik na akyatan dahil may kasagsagang bagyo nung umakyat kame pero its a super worth it experience. But when you reach the summit and view the rockies.. wooohoo! Breath taking experience.

“im the most beautiful bitch in the world!!” Chos.

Anyways theres always a new lesson in every trip that I had.

“Never stop once you reach the top. keep on going!”

Til the next travel adventure!

pag masdan mo ser may sea of clouds din kame!

Kala mo madali lang.. try mo kaya..

Ayooos!

We’re on the top of the world!!!

Saving tips for your getaways

Saving tips for your trips

  • Plan your trips ahead of time – Yes something I learned from my previous trips. Planning is one of the most important thing that you should know before traveling. Need to know where to go, how much you need, what are the things you can do during your trip and when is the best time to go there.
  • Save- Since you already plan ahead of time you need to save for you to enjoy your trip without a hassle. Not thinking that you’ll be short in the mid of your trip. Everyone would agree saving atleast 500-1000 pesos or  less from your pay out before your said trip will keep your worries away.
  • Bring food with you – Yes while your on the road you can bring your own baon/food so that instead of you starving and waiting for the stop overs atleast your eating something heathy and clean that can fill out your hunger while on a trip.
  • Eat something local- Instead of you eating in a restaurant or any fast food chain why dont you try eating in a karenderia/turo-turo or a tusok-tusok. Since here in the Philippines we have variety of streetfoods, you can definitely enjoy your trip on a low cost. Example you have 30 pesos you can enjoy 15pesos of kwek-kwek, 5pesos of kikiam, 5pesos of fishball and 5pesos of sago’t gulaman. Mura na nag enjoy at nabusog ka pa.
  • Walk- There are places on your trip that are near to each other. Try to walk.. Atleast something healthy and will definitely helps you to boost your stamina.
  • A trip with friends or family- It will cut the cost of your expenses if you for a trip in a group.
  • Lessen your expensive coffee- Guilty. Yes I love drinking coffee with friends then i realize i need to lessen drinking coffee instead save my money for my trips. Anyways traveling is an investment too.

    Bato Spring

After a month na nag resign ako sa first company na pinagtrabahuhan ko, I and my old but goodies friends planed to have a trip somewhere out of the Metro.

Ate Irene of my sisters in TP suggested Bato Springs. At first I thought its the Bato-bato hot springs in Los Baños, Laguna so I told the group “Ayos para sa mga rayuma ng mga matatanda”.. She laugh at me and answered back.. Waiting til the day na nagkita-kita kame.

So this is it pansit.. We’re 10 pax when we went there. Ride a bus going Lucena in DLTB fare is around 130+/per pax/one way (its 4yrs ago sorry i cant really remember whats the exact ammount but i guess same price range pa din sa pamasahe).

Ok.. babaan time.

Alright! Finally.. Swiming time! Umuwi sina ate Irene at 6 pa kaming natira so we spent the rest of the day and night at the resort. We enjoyed our overnight stay. Natapos ang maghapon namin ng kakakain dahil may baon kame, videoke, inuman at kwentuhan. Nung wala na kaming mapag usapan natulog kami ng very light. Wake up time 5am. We started exploring the place. Best time to explore the place in the morning.

Budget:per head for our overnight stay

    • 130 bus fare x2 (papunta at pabalik)=260
    • 150 tricycle (150÷5= 30)x2=60
    • Entrance 125
    • 1room cottage na may lamesa sa baba for dining 1500 (2 big beds kasya naman kaming anim with small cr infairness) the room is good for 4-6 pax // ÷6=250

So total of 695pesos not bad for you to enjoy natural cold spring water of Bato Spring offers. A very good summer getaway. Ayaw namin mababad sa araw kaya nag overnight kami since we went there after ng shift nila ng hapon. A very good place to go. Tahimik, mura, more on nature connection, easy access malapit kase sa Manila.

A few pictures of the place:

    Ilocandia trip

A solid backpack experience with my little sister. A trip where i learn how to deal with different types of people, culture and beliefs. Etc.. Thats fine. At the end of the day marerealize mo 1st time nyu kase umalis na kayo lang at parehas pang babae.. gabi pa.. so understandable.. had a great experience..
Being on a 7-8k budget diy bagpacking for 2 not bad.

Imagine its an ilocos trip maybe missed the beach, sand dunes and patapat bridge. History, culture, food, at iba pa. 24hrs travel. None stop ang motion.
Marami ding museums ang under renovation ngayon. Anyways di man napuntahan lahat worth it naman. limited time but the experience was soooo unforgetable. Maybe next time mag iinvest naman ako sa ilocos beach experience. May susunod pa naman.
But it was a great experience meeting the barao family after how many years. Seeing them smile WORTH IT.. Lahat pati pagod mo nawawala.. 😉

“Dati pangarap ko lang sya puntahan nung napuntahan ko na sya para akong nasa cloud9.. it was an awesome trip. Worth it and memorable.. i went on a trip for a purpose and it was unexplainable experience”

Philippines is made of 7 641 islands, 16 regions, and 82 provinces. I wonder how I can enjoy traveling in the Philippines if im under a tight budget. At the age of 12 I really love watching travel shows like Trip na trip, Byahe ni drew, Kapuso mo Jessica Soho (summer edition), Born to be wild and such other travel or nature trips. I keep on wondering how I can go to those places all by my self or how i can get there.

Its not easy to plan a trip to somewhere. Its hard to budget if you only have a few savings but then again with my busy world i still need to take a rest and need to enjoy life before settling in the near future. Aint bad to dream traveling around the Philippines before 27. Join me as I start traveling in my own little way and how can I survive traveling on a budget.

Let`s start changing my action plan instead of me spending eating unhealthy foods and adding vices. Why dont go on a diet start saving and travel more to enjoy life.
